PMA develops
long term photo care program for retail members
PMA is creating a new program called Long Term Photo Care
(LTPC) for photo retailers. Long Term Photo Care, a term coined and promoted
by author and industry journalist Laura Oles, entails providing education,
products and services for consumers who have hard drives filling up with
digital pictures and aren't sure what to do next. Oles will head the Long
Term Photo Care project for PMA. |

Picture of Digital Photography is Unclear for
Consumers
One of the biggest tragedies resulting from a fire
or a flood is the loss of personal photos -- that
visual history of one's life. It is one of the things
that people risk their lives trying to save. But
consumers are far more likely to lose their personal
picturesin a hard drive crash or other technology
failure. Because today's photos are digital they
often reside on personal computers or in cameras.
They are often ignored for long periods of time,
unprotected from common digital failures. |
